Who organizes the Afton Trail Run?

The Afton Trail Run is organized and put on entirely by volunteers. The people that put the race together are the same people that are out on the roads and trails running with you. All of the organizers of the Afton Trail Run have full time jobs, many have families and many train and compete at a high level.

Where do the profits from the race go?

The Afton Trail Run IS NOT put on to make it's organizers a profit, it is put on because of our love for the park and our passion for the sport. All profits from the Afton Trail Run are donated to Afton State Park out of appreciation for what we consider to be one of the greatest parks in the state.

Who started the Afton Trail Run?

Terry Stockton was the creator and original race director of the Afton Trail Run. We owe Terry and his wife a lot of credit for starting this race and his years of service to the race and to Afton State Park. We are proud to still be putting the race on in the same fine tradition as Terry, 15 years later. Stay tuned to the website as we have an Afton Trail Run hall of fame in the works that will chronicle all of the great years of the race.

Who created your website?

John Storkamp designed the layout of the site, did all of the graphic design and most of the tedious work involved in building a site. Amy Schaffer consulted on the technical aspects of the site, gave moral support and gave freely of her knowledge and her time. Without Amy's support this site would not be a reality. There were many other contributors of content to this site including key contributions from Jason Husveth, Nancy Griffith, and Maria Barton with minor contributions from most of the individuals listed on our Volunteers page. Again, we cannot thank Bob Metzger for all of his years as the previous webmaster / designer of the site.

Can I use a logo or image from your site?

All of the images, photography, video, graphics and content contained within this website are owned by Afton Trail Run, unless noted otherwise, and are protected under international copyright law. Use of any images or content from this site without written permission from it's owner is strictly prohibited.

If I drop from the 50K will I get an official 25K finish?

If you drop from the 50K for any reason you will not be credited with a finish, even if you have completed more than 25K of the course.

What do I do if I cannot finish the race and have to drop out?

If you drop from the race (either distance) please let a volunteer know, if you do not, you will be counted as missing and we will start a search for you. Again, be sure to let someone with the race know that you are dropping!

questions - index

I am a fast runner, will you comp my entry?

Probably not. Again, this race is organized as a way to raise money for Afton State Park, not for profit. Chip in and make your donation!
